Response to the "Jerusalem" project

Alright, I am going to try to post this again since everything I post is disappearing for some reason. In response to the reading, I was impressed to see that Jews and Palestinians were able to set aside at least majority of the time their emotional and personal views and work towards a common ground. It disappoints me that the project fell through and never came to because it would have been a project that really came from the heart and told a story to many who are not aware of the situations in that region. I do have to say I am not surprised that it was a finiancial issue that halted the project. I know this may come off wrong to some and may be stereotype but it is how I feel, usually many from the region tend to focus on the big picture but never put any focus or concentration on the short one. I mean to me with a project that was this big and took so much time and effort it boggles me that no one even thought or took action to solve the financial aspect of it. I mean it had to have crossed many minds and it had to have been brought up because with the structural concept of it you have to think of resources which then leads to how to get means for it. I many be judging harshly but it upsets me that Jews and Arabs of Jerusalem were able to come to an agreement and stand to work with one another but we could not get a resolution to the financial aspect of it. I do have many ideas of how they could have gone about raising it, but I will leave that for another time.

In regards to the movie, it was ok for a short film/advertisement. I did not enjoy much because I felt it tapped on the subject and left the viewer more confused or full of questions. Especially if the viewer is unfamiliar with that region or the issues that are going on there. I know the subject can not be described in that short of a time nor if the film was three hours long but there could have been other ways to get some of the points across. I can not say it didnt do anything, it did show some of the differences between the two cultures and their way of living but it also showed the similiarities. I believe they are one people, one culture just their environment molded their way of life but if you noticed they look the same, they have the same morals and very similar traditions that are just practiced differently due to religion. I could go on forever but I think this shows some of the views I have in regards to the readings and movie.

I did like the film but I think you are right that it asumes that people already have some idea of what is going on in Jerusalem. If there was a reading before introducing the film that gave a little background it would be better.
